Kady Yellow | Social Architect & Tactical Urbanist

Downtowns are not dead, but the ways we used them, thought about them, and developed them before COVID are. Placemaking expert Kady Yellow believes that remaking and renewing our city centers requires embracing the transformative potential of underground cultures that have historically been undervalued and misunderstood. Graffiti, street art, hip-hop, and the nightlife economy are all vibrant acts of human expression and creativity. By highlighting and embracing these cultures as catalysts for positive change, we have the opportunity not only to enhance our cities aesthetically, but also to bridge social divides, promote economic growth, and foster a more inclusive society.
