Charlotte Mabrey and Robert Arleigh White have been long time performance partners whose work has embraced movement, spoken word and poetry, music with an emphasis in percussion, film and video.
Mabrey is Professor of Music at the University of North Florida and former principal percussionist with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. White is no less accomplished as a director of plays — he directed over 50 productions and worked to produce dozens more at Theatre Jacksonville and other venues — and as an actor. Their themes are personal, exploring issues as diverse as dreams and aspirations, social masking, spiritual identity, and sometimes just the simplicity of goofiness that can be joyfully shared inside a relationship of real trust. The partnership has existed for over 25 years, and the performances are typically offered as sell-outs throughout the region.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
